This stereoscope is an antique, likely from the 1890s. It was made for the San Francisco-based American Biscuit Company. The stereoscope is made of tin and features a lithographed design. It is labeled "Portable Folding Stereoscope" and can be folded for storage. The text "Rotograce," "USA," and "Patent 7208-9" are printed on it. Stereoscopes present two separate images, one for each eye, which the brain combines to perceive depth. This type of stereoscope was a popular form of entertainment before the advent of movies. It includes 24 original slides.
