Hand carved in western Africa, and attributed to the Senufo tribe, the bench is naturally curved and stands on three thick carved legs. The seat is made of one single piece of indigenous hardwood. This kind of benches were originally used as seating for important figures or as a symbol of status and authority; they are considered a symbol of the rich cultural heritage of the Senufo people and are admired for their beauty, simplicity, and functionality as well their sculptural and artistical value.
