This is a very unusual Yeibichai weaving with some of the most unusual colors I've seen from a Navajo artist. These figures represent 2 yei divinities of the Navajo Indian tribe and are principle figures in the initiation ceremony, Night Way. This is a very well woven Yei rug with 2 Yei figure surrounded on either side by corn and within the protection of the Rainbow Guardian figure on three sides. The rug is woven from handspun wool yarn This piece is in quite excellent condition considering the age and the colors are extremely vibrant.
