This Superb polychrome olla is museum-grade, featuring geometric shapes painted in traditional Mata Ortiz colors, and was created in the 1970s. Juan Quezada is a self-taught artist working in Mata Ortiz, Mexico. He is credited with starting the pottery revival in Mata Ortiz, and his pots are widely admired and collected. Juan Quezada is the self-taught genius who, working in Mata Ortiz, a small village in northern Mexico, discovered and gave rise to an incredible artistic movement, known the world over as Mata Ortiz pottery.
